WATER, BUTYLENE GLYCOL, ROSE EXTRACT, PHENOXYETHANOL, PEG-60 HYDROGENATED CASTOR OIL, POLYACRYLIC ACID, TROMETHAMINE, ETHYLHEXYLGLYCERIN, DISODIUM EDTA, FRAGRANCE, GLYCERIN, NELUMBO NUCIFERA FLOWER EXTRACT, PRUNUS MUME FRUIT EXTRACT, TOCOPHEROL, LACTIC ACID, CITRIC ACID

(from SokoGlam)*

Main Ingredient:

Rosa Damascena Flower Water (90.97% Damask Rose Water) - Soothing & hydrating

First Impression & Experience:

Very soothing feeling & scent (might be too heavy for some people, but it's not too rich for me). It's somewhere in between those typical watery toners & "fat-water" but not until very thick, like ^Hada Labo's lotion (my first toner in my skincare journey) that extent.

Pros:

  • Soothing
  • Hydrating
  • Can be used as mask with multi-layers cotton pads

Cons:

  • Rose fragrance might be too heavy for some people
  • May be too heavy/sticky if apply >5 layers-7 layers for 7-skin-method

Final Thoughts & Conclusion:

My first Mamonde product & first k-beauty brand, 2nd toner brand I've used in my skincare journey, emptied almost 5 bottles (first was ^Hada Labo Hydrating Lotion). I usually buy 500ml one as it's worth so much more than 250ml's.

It's one of the first Korean skincare brand that came out with Rose Water as their star ingredient back in 2016/2017?. The 7-skin-method is also highly marketed at that time. I've tried this method, even if I have dry-combination skin, only 3-5 layers is enough to plump up my skin with the medium consistency of toner, as more than that will be too sticky. NOTE: I tried this when I was in Melbourne where it has a dry climate, so if you live in a humid & hot country, apply the toners & adjust the layers based on your liking/preference of the stickiness.

Many of you may think that toner is the stage after cleanser that helps wipe away any impurities, that's why you're using a cotton pad during application; Whereas some think that toner helps balance out the skin pH level after cleansing so it's a compulsory step. However, cleanser in the market nowadays are not as stripping as how it used to be anymore & if you're using cotton pads for toner and you see there's still stuff on it after cleansing, YOU'RE DEFINITELY NOT DOING YOUR CLEANSING PROPERLY. Toner is a step that gives u extra hydration & most dermatologist don't think that it's a necessary step. But adding toner in your skincare routine can be a very effective way to give your skin a boost especially you're going to put a makeup afterwards. So, listen to your skin every time when you want to add any skincare product into your routine. Also, you can check out Lab Muffin's blog post for more detailed information about cleanser.

I usually just pour the toner on my palms & press it onto my face, as imo pouring it on cotton pads then wipe over the face is too much of the waste of product & cotton pads.

For masking with cotton pads (soak 2-3 cotton pads with toner, then place around the areas you wish for extra hydration), it's very effective to soothe the skin, especially around the blemishes & dry areas. After 5-10 minutes, the skin will feel very hydrated & follow-up with a serum or(/and) moisturizer of your choice will do the job.

I've recently started filling my toners into a spray bottle (only for watery to medium consistency ones) & it can last the longest time than the usual ways we apply the toner (Spray Bottle > Hand > Cotton Pads). Furthermore, I can spray a few times to my face before every step in my skincare routine for extra hydration when I feel like my face's in need of a boost / it's on a bad skin day.

3: So far the toner with same or similar consistency like this Rose Water Toner is either too sticky or not soothing for my liking, so yes if I'm looking for a toner that can satisfy these needs;

☆: I prefer thicker toners (or you can just call them lotion) so I can skip serum step in my AM routine

(2020, Original version's ingredient list from Watsons Malaysia Website)*

The only difference between the COOL version & the original one is the Menthol & Menthyl Lactate ingredient. Menthyl Lactate is an ester of menthol and lactic acid, that gives a soothing and cooling effect to the skin. The cooling effect can sometimes reduce the skin irritation and inflammation.

Sunscreen Type: Chemical sunscreen

UV Filters:

Octinoxate (Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate) - protect us from UVB rays/skin-burning,

Octyl Triazone/Uvinul T 150 (Ethylhexyl Triazone) - UVB ray filter/absorbent,

Uvinul A Plus (DHHB - Diethylamino Hydroxybenzoyl Hexyl Benzoate) - protects us from UVA rays/skin-aging,

Bemotrizinol (BEMT)/Tinosorb S (Bis-Ethylhexyloxyphenol Methoxyphenyl Triazine) - UVA+UVB rays absorbent/broad spectrum.

First Impression & Experience: ☆☆

Squeezing out from the tube, it has a yellowish-cream color, very cooling & smooth application, as well as lightweight throughout the day. It has a very strong alcohol smell which I don't really like. The pores will look a little huge for the first few minutes before it's totally dried down, but after that, the skin will look brightened & dewy.

Pros:

  • Light-weight texture
  • Non-greasy
  • Water resistant (80minutes as claimed by the brand, but I never tested it before)
  • Cooling sensation
  • No white cast at all (because it's a chemical sunscreen)
  • Leaves a dewy finish on the skin
  • Has alcohol ingredient but does not dry out my skin (it makes sunscreen dries easily & the sunscreen has moisturising ingredients to contrast with that)

Cons:

  • Strong alcohol smell
  • Makes my T-zone more oily, which comes to the next point, 👇
  • Blackheads grow faster (1 week) than usual (2 weeks) after using
  • May be not suitable to oily skin people
*UPDATE: AUGUST 2021* Oiliness is caused by the Innisfree Jeju Orchid Gel Cream that I've used

Final Thoughts & Conclusion:

I've emptied more than 10 bottles (& different formulations), tried Hada Labo Perfect UV Gel & ended up coming back to this again because I prefer the non-draggy, smooth feeling during application & the dewy, but non-sticky finish. I've tried their ^Watery Gel (90ml RM53.61) too, with a rectangular bottle packaging that feels the same, but more watery & the alcohol smell is not that strong (Judging the consistency, shouldn't this be called gel then the watery gel be called essence..? LOL)

The sunscreen can definitely be your "best everyday sunscreen" as it's a chemical sunscreen that's very lightweight, non-sticky & no white cast (if you don't mind the alcohol smell).

After half day of application, my oily T-zone will appear a little oily (I have dry-combination skin) even if I don't have much activity throughout the day, only sitting in air-conditioned room 90% of the time. The blackheads in my T-zone & chin area also grow faster than usual, as usually it'll be very visible only after 2 weeks, but after using this sunscreen, I have to exfoliate by the end of the week.

//Little Story about My Sunscreen Journey//

My first sunscreen brand since secondary school (2011), when it was still in its simple & plain light blue packaging. I got it as a birthday gift from my friend & that's how I started using sunscreen so early, plus that was the period of time when we always stand under the sun for at least 30 minutes of assembly at 12 noon every single day. Even though that time I didn't know that the sunscreen's all melted after you sweat & requires reapplication after 2 hours for better result, at least I still applied sunscreen once a day. Also, I did double cleanse since then. I'm not sure where did I learned it from, but most probably is because I started using makeup at the same time.

//Back to The Points//

Ever since year 2017, I dived more into Korean skincare and tone-up sunscreens & started trying out other brand's sunscreen. I've only started using it back the original version in year 2019 & this COOL limited edition version lately.

2011: When squeeze out the product, it's more white in color than the newer versions that's more creamy color. Alcohol smell is not that strong.

2017: More satin finish (Reviewed by a skincare blogger, check out her blog for more comparisons)

2019: I feel like it feels almost the same as 2011's version, but with a stronger alcohol smell & more water/sweat resistant (I never tested this before, so I couldn't prove anything)

(As stated on Kao's website, they'll be reformulating both their Biore UV Aqua Rich on beginning on 2019).

Biore UV recently came out with the Aqua Rich Light Up 70g version with royal jelly extract (the cool & original version also have this) & pearl pigment that claims to have a tone-up effect. I'll try to get that on my hands soon & review 💜😆

.

*UPDATE: AUGUST 2021*
After changing to a more occlussive moisturiser, my T-zone is no longer super oily. The sunscreen suits my skin pretty well, just like how it used to be many years ago. It's the Innisfree Jeju Orchid Gel Cream that makes my skin producing excessive oil, probably due to its Squalane ingredient/that my skin's lack of moisture.

[SKINCARE] Cosrx Centella Blemish Cream 30g/ml

Product's Overview:

Ingredient & directions in English

Ingredient & directions in Korean

Used till the last bit

Has white cast,
but cast will disappear after blending more

Ingredients: Centella Asiatica Leaf Water, Butylene Glycol, Glycerin, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Zinc Oxide, Dimethicone, Betaine, 1,2-Hexanediol, Viola Tricolor Extract, Elaeis Guineensis(Palm) oil, Elaeis Guineensis(Palm) Kernel Oil, Cetearyl Alcohol, Cetearyl Olivate, Sorbitan Olivate, Centella Asiatica Extract, Zinc PCA, Hydroxyethyl Acrylate/Sodium Acryloyldimethyl Taurate Copolymer, Xanthan Gum , Melaleuca Alternifolia (Tea Tree) Leaf Oil, Scutellaria Baicalensis Root Extract

(from packaging & Cosrx's Official Website)

Main Ingredient:

Centella Asiatica Leaf Water & Extract - prevent scarring & future blemishes, soothe inflamed skin

Viola Tricolor Extract - from Wild Pansy flower, skin soothing

Zinc PCA (Pyrrolidone Carboxylic Acid) - Reduce redness, sebum secretion, moisturising & healing

Melaleuca Alternifolia (Tea Tree) Leaf Oil - anti-inflammatory effect

Scutellaria Baicalensis Root Extract - from Huang Qin or Chinese skullcap plant's root, has anti-bacterial, anti-inflammatory & anti-allergic benefit

First Impression & Experience: ★

The cream has light scent but not too strong & very soothing to smell. It's also soothing for the skin. It calms down red & irritated pimple immediately, especially those underneath the skin ones. For the first time using, I got too much of them & my face became too "ghosty". A tiny bit, literally only a droplet size can already be used on a few spots (typical pimple size). Just the amount on the lid can last for almost a month, then only start to use the jar's portion. Targeted spots will be flatten overnight when you woke up.

Pros:

  • Calmed irritated/inflamed pimples
  • Great for pre & post pimples
  • Smoothen skin texture after applying (like concealer/tone-up effect)
  • Help with flattening any pimples/bumps on forehead
  • A small jar but can last for very very long time

Cons:

  • Doesn't work on maturing pimple, only for underneath skin & already popped ones
  • Has white cast, but will disappear if blends in longer
  • Doesn't fade dark marks caused by pimples/hyperpigmentation

Final Thoughts & Conclusion:

The best (imo) calming cream for post-pimples as it gives a very soothing sensation to those already popped pimples. So far, it's the only product that works for my underneath-skin pimples & forehead bumps (can be flatten the next day). The ingredients used in the cream are all very soothing & calming to the irritated skin/spots.

If applied on a big area of your face, blending all in until no white cast, it'll be quite sticky (so it's recommended to apply at least 15 minutes before your bed time), but you'll wake up with a glowing & smooth skin.

I usually use this Centella Blemish Cream in PM routine cause of the white cast & I only do specific spot treatment, without blending all in (I use other product in AM routine). The effect works the best if you put the cream & wait till it dries, then stick with a pimple patch. The popped pimple mark (I don't mean by popping it yourself ❗) will be very flattened & no more redness overnight.

(left) night time ; (right) next day

30ml @RM42.90 (bought on June 2020)
