First Impression & Experience: ★

Turns into oil once it touches your palms/
in contact with warmth,
then rub it on your face

Apply on dry face, then it'll turn into oil form

Emulsification: Add a little water, then continue to rub gently, it'll become milky
Washed off: Leaves no residue, no greasy feeling

It has an aromatic scent, that's similar to those 5-stars hotel's toilet's parfum.

First, scoop a 50 cents (Malaysian ringgit, MYR) size with the spatula given, put on my palms, it'll melt into oil form. After rubbing circular motion onto the face, I added some water to emulsify it & it became milk form. After a while, I wash it away & proceed to my 2nd cleanse - my daily cleanser.

However, it dries up my lips after 2 uses (after few minutes of washing the balm & not washing away with cleanser). As for my face, it does its job as a cleansing balm quite well.

Pros:

  • Convenient flipping lid instead of turning cap
  • Has a space for spatula in the packaging
  • Very moisturising & non-drying
  • Convenient to carry around (especially for travel)
  • Reduce the waste of cotton pads/rounds
  • Relaxing feeling when using because of its aroma - essential oil (also a CON to some people)

Cons:

  • Requires more amount to work it up, if not will have tugging motion
  • Has fragrance & a lot of essential oil ❗sensitive skin people out there please take note

Final Thoughts & Conclusion:

As written on the packaging, the cleansing balm has their natural aroma (made up with many fruits & flowers essential oil) to give the user a relaxing feeling, like they're in a spa, while doing their first cleanse. It's indeed very relaxing, however it may irritate sensitive skin people, even though it's written there as DERMATOLIGIST TESTED & SKIN IRRITATION TESTED ❗Please take note if you have sensitive skin as these labels doesn't mean or prove anything better than you knowing your own skin❗

Its fragrance is lighter than Banila Co.'s and somehow very relaxing, even though its essential oil amount on the list is way much more than Banila Co.'s. (check out my blog post here). My skin's doing fine with all the essential oils because it's just a cleansing product that doesn't have to stay on face for long.

The texture is not as buttery smooth as Banila Co.'s cleansing balm & need to work harder to glide on the face. Sometimes I would take more of the product just to prevent the excessive tugging motion on my face whenever I do my first cleanse.

The flip open packaging is very convenient especially after putting the balm onto palms before warming on palms & massage onto face. Turning cap is always very troublesome & will be very messy when your palms are very oily with cleansing balm.

For my dried lips after a few uses, the problem is no longer there after I put extra moisturisation on my lips during my bed time. After that few times, I don't apply it on my lips anymore as I don't usually put makeup, only some eyebrows product & sunscreen. The balm is easy to be washed away, as it's balm > oil (warmth of your palms/after rubbing in, doesn't feel heavy at all) > milk (after get in contact with water. It'll be quite messy at first so don't put too much water). It leaves no greasy feeling afterwards & you only need to continue your skincare routine afterwards with a cleanser that you usually use.

Overall, it's an effective cleansing balm that's not overly heavy & does it job well as a first cleanse, without breaking me out.

[SKINCARE] Mamonde Floral Hydro Cream 50ml

Product's Overview:

Ingredients:

Water / Aqua / Eau, Propanediol, Glycerin, Cyclopentasiloxane, Cyclohexasiloxane, Alcohol, Dimethicone, Dicaprylyl Carbonate, Glyceryl Polymethacrylate, Cetearyl Alcohol, Polysorbate 20, Ammonium, Acryloyldimethyltaurate/VP Copolymer, Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Butylene Glycol, Glyceryl Stearate, Tromethamine, Stearic Acid, Fragrance / Parfum, Polyacrylate-13, Hydrogenated Lecithin, Narcissus Tazetta Bulb Extract, Glyceryl Caprylate, Polyisobutene, Polyglyceryl-3 Methylglucose Distearate, Ethylhexylglycerin, Disodium EDTA, Linalool, Hyaluronic Acid, Sorbitan Isostearate, Limonene, Butylphenyl, Methylpropional, Citronellol, Hexyl Cinnamal, Tocopherol, Glycine Soja (Soybean) Oil.

(from *ecocosmetics, because this product is no longer available in Mamonde's official website)

Star Ingredients:

Narcissus (Daffodil algae) Tazetta Bulb Extract - Provides long lasting moisturisation for your skin, just like its bulb storing the hydration

Hyaluronic Acid - An antioxidant humectant that draws & holds the water content

Glycine Soja (Soybean) Oil - Non-fragrant, skin smoother, antioxidant with a few blends of fatty acids helps with skin barrier, soothes sensitivity & inflammation (refer more here)

First Impression & Experience:

It's a gel cream that provides hydration like a thick cream. It feels very lightweight & leaves no sticky residue.

It's recommended by the brand to be used on oily or acne-prone skin & also suitable to be used in hot weather/humid climate. Mamonde stated that it's a refreshing cream that locks in and provide long-lasting moisturisation.

Pros:

  • Provides hydration & moisturisation as well as a thick cream
  • Lightweight
  • Non-sticky

Cons:

  • Has medium-weight fragrance (which I don't mind but do take note if you're sensitive to it)

Final Thoughts & Conclusion:

My 2nd Mamonde product & first k-beauty brand, 2nd moisturizer brand I've used, emptied almost 5 jars so far (tried it since 2018). My first moisturiser was ^Hada Labo Light Cream & ^Hada Labo Moisturising Cream are normal creams but doesn't provide enough moisture for me throughout the day and can wear off after I sweat, ended up having dry flaky skin, in need to touch up and finishing up the product in less than 2 months.

I have dry-combination skin, living in a humid & hot weather country. This gel cream works fantastic for me because of the moisture it provides despite being a gel cream.

I've started using this gel cream before Mamonde repackage their products into these elegant packaging with the flowers' names & suitable skin type stated on them.

The promoter from the counter stated that they reformulated their products alongside with their repackaging. However, for the gel cream, both the old & new version feels and smells the same to me. It still does a great job in providing hydration & lock in the moisture for whole day. Living in a humid & hot weather country, this cream provides a long lasting moisture to the skin, like our thick cream , but doesn't feel heavy at all because of its gel consistency.

Hyaluronic Acid -  Humectant that draws water from deeper layer of your skin & air, then locks in the moisture at outer layer of your skin;

Orchid Extract - Regenerate skin cells, skin soother, reduce fine lines' & wrinkles' appearance.

First Impression & Experience: ★☆☆

The gel cream feels comfortable on the skin, fragrance is not too overpowering. Taking it out from the jar, it's like a pudding texture that leaves a fingerprint on it. The next day, the surface became flat again, like you've never used before.

The cream has an oily texture (caused by squalane ingredient) but once it has dried down, my face doesn't feel sticky or oily at all. However, my hands are very oily after applying the moisturiser & it leaves a lot of fingerprints on its cap, as well as my other skincare products.

Closer look of its pudding texture. Finger mark is left on it

The gel cream forms back into a flat surface the next day.

Pros:

  • Provides enough hydration for U-zone
  • Fragrance that's not too overpowering compared to other Innisfree products (may be con for some people who're very sensitive to fragrance)

Cons:

  • Makes my T-zone very oily
  • Grows milia on cheeks, forehead & chin after 2 weeks of usage
  • Break out on cheeks area, especially mask part below cheekbones (I don't usually break out here)

Final Thoughts & Conclusion:

The gel cream may not be suitable for my dry-combination skin (oily T-zone, dry U-zone). It makes my T-zone & chin more oily after half day. As for the dry part of face (U-zone), it provides enough hydration & doesn't feel too oily at all.

Unfortunately, after 2 weeks of using, my cheeks, forehead and chin starts to grow milia, even if I did exfoliation once a week. Some cheeks area, below cheekbones also starts to have break out, which is very unusual as I typically only break out on forehead, jaw line & chin. This might be due to the Squalane in the ingredient list (milia on cheeks) or that my skin feels lack of moisturisation & starts producing oil (super oily T-zone).

I stopped using it & I can immediately see the milia being flattened a little & no more new milia growing. I'm still on the way to treat my milia even after I stopped using the gel cream for like a month.

I've tried using the other moisturiser (^Laneige Radian-C Cream) & same sunscreen (view my blogpost -> Biore UV Aqua Rich Cool Edition). The overly oily T-zone feeling is no longer there, so it's not the sunscreen's problem, but the gel cream.

Looking at the ingredient list, most of the ingredients are more towards oil-controlling & anti-aging (Innisfree marketed this Jeju Orchid range for anti-aging). This may be the reason that my skin's saying no to this gel cream, even though it appears to provide enough hydration & locks in the moisture on my dry U-zone. Also, even if I have oily T-zone, it still doesn't cooperate with my skin well, ended up producing more oil.

I've only used 1/3 of the jar & realised it's not suitable to my skin type. I used it as a body lotion on my arms & legs. As a gel cream, of course it doesn't provide adequate moisturisation at all & feels very sticky and oily too on my body (but it doesn't feel like that on my face). Nonetheless, it's better than let it be a waste.

Used as a lotion instead on my arms & legs

Price vs. Value: ★★

50ml RM64.28 (bought on May 2020)

from Shopee k-beauty shop with products directly imported from Korea

It's a mid-range price moisturiser, considering its original price from official Innisfree store is RM119 50ml.

Repurchase? ☆☆☆☆

Normally, if a cream doesn't work, I'll immediately feel the dryness on my cheeks & oiliness. However, this gel cream's side effects to my skin gets WORSE day by day without any signs. It gave adequate moisturisation to my cheeks, but it grows a bunch of milia and pimples afterwards & super oily T-zone.

So, NO, considering it doesn't suit my skin at all. I'm still treating the milia & post-breakout marks even till now...

My skin type might suit better with their enriched or intense cream, but I wouldn't give this range another go considering the star ingredient that they marketed is at the 2nd last of ingredient list. For this price range, there's other more better gel cream out there that are best suited to my skin type.

(long ass ingredient list from *Incidecoder, because this product detail's no longer in AHC official website)

Main Ingredient: (of the eye cream range listed from oldest to latest, BOLD is the one I tried)

Pure Real Eye CreamOleanolic Acid (anti-oxidant), Salvia Miltiorrhiza Root Extract (Improve skin barrier), Rice Extract (moisturising, anti-inflammatory).

Ageless Real Eye Cream - Probiotics, niacinamide, Biomimic collagen, peptide, ceramide, hyaluronic acid, Squalane.

Youth Lasting Real Eye Cream - Collagen, elastin, peptide, amino acids.

Luminous Glow Real Eye Cream - Brightening ingredient, like Glutathione, Vitamin C derivatives, hyaluronic acid, peptide.

First Impression & Experience: ★☆☆

The tube packaging makes it easy to dispense the appropriate amount for both eyes, but the fragrance is too strong even for me who's not overly sensitive to fragrance. It doesn't irritates my eyes like some other thick eye cream will do & makes my eyesight blurry once applied. It's not oily at all, but there's a slight stickiness at first. Once it's dried off, there's no more tackiness. I use it on my last step of routine after moisturiser step, before spot treatment.

Pros:

  • Cheap price with the large amount of product
  • Hygienic tube packaging
  • Luxurious packaging, doesn't look like how it's priced
  • Doesn't sting my eyes/makes it blurry once applied

Cons:

  • Very fragranced
  • No effect at all for my eye concern (slight fine lines & dark circles)

Final Thoughts & Conclusion:

AHC is a Korean brand that makes the eye cream product popular in skincare routine & also still one of the best selling eye cream product in k-beauty market right now even though there's a lot of brands releasing better alternatives of this eye cream (it's because of its price-affordability). It's my first Korean eye cream, which I believe most people who are into Korean skincare is the same as me.

I don't see any effect on my under eyes as my slight fine line & dark circles doesn't have any changes at all after finishing a whole tube. It has a very strong fragrance, so do take note if you're very sensitive to the scent/has sensitive eyes. Strong fragrance are really not necessary for an eye cream (even though it's marketed as both eye cream & face cream), because it can cause high risk of irritation to the eyes. I personally do not mind fragrance in my eye product, but if I can avoid it, I'll do so as most of the products in my skincare routine has fragrance.

Instead of prevention of aging, this eye cream is marketed to be hydrating, brightening and nourishing, giving the eyes a plumper look. There's ingredients like probiotics, niacinamide, hyaluronic acid, ceramide, collagen, peptide and a few oil in the product. It'll suit more to people who has very dry under eyes.

For me, eye cream is really not necessary & is same as the moisturiser we usually use, but in a smaller tube/jar & sells so much more expensive. You can actually just use a light moisturiser that's not too thick/oily for your under eyes (if you're lazy to find one that suits you, just get an affordable eye cream like AHC's to save all the hassles, then you're good to go). The product is marketed as "Eye Cream for Face" as it can be used on other parts of the face too other than eyes, so it's basically just a moisturiser in a tube. I usually applied on my Glabella (unibrows area) & Nasolabial Folds (lines on both sides of mouth a.k.a. laugh lines), where you can see aging forming other than just the eye area.

For some people, eye cream is a luxury relaxing step in their skincare routine so they use it; Using an eye cream in my routine, is only for prevention of wrinkles & fine lines since I'm already in my 20s, so this AHC eye cream doesn't reach my expectations in the function & ingredient-wise. I'll opt for eye cream with retinol/peptide/collagen as main ingredient in the future, although it may cause a lot more than this eye cream.

The packaging of the product is very convenient because usually sleeping mask that came in jar form is hard to get out without the use of spatula due to their slippery consistency. When squeeze out from the tube, it's like a semi-opaque white color, pudding texture.

Once glides on face, it's like a water cream that melts into the skin. It's slightly sticky to my liking, so I'm only using it at night time routine. The next day when I woke up, my face feels plumped up, looks brightened and pores appeared minimised.

Pros:

  • Can be used as daily cream if you don't mind the stickiness
  • Plump up & brightens the skin overnight
  • Minimize pores' appearance
  • Hygienic tube packaging

Cons:

  • Stings pimple/irritated part
  • A little sticky for my liking
  • Not suitable to be used in day time (unless u have super dry/dry skin)

Final Thoughts & Conclusion:

The mask sometimes stings on the part where I have pimples/irritation, not sure why.

The packaging is very hygienic & convenient even till the last bit as it can be cut off & use all up.

To be honest, sleeping mask are just a more hydrating & thicker version of our normal creams, but this is quite lightweight. Even though the ingredients has sunflower seed oil & palm oil, it's not oily at all. However, I don't like a cream that's too sticky on my face during daytime, so I would only use it during my PM routine. Because of its stickiness, it's better to be applied 30 minutes before bed time to prevent transferring to your pillowcase & wasting the product.

When I have a lot of break outs & applied this in my PM routine, it stings a little at first, then it'll be fine after a few seconds. On the next day, I woke up with brightened skin complexion & inflamed pimples became flattened. Additionally, the pimple marks also became lightened.

As for using it as a wash-off mask pack, I've only tried twice. The amount I put is double the amount I would usually put as a cream. As the name said it's a spa mask, I can feel the occlusiveness of the mask & the plumpness of my face after washing it off. I only left it on for 15 minutes because I'm afraid that it may dry out my skin if I put it on for too long. The mask is still not fully dried yet at all even after 15 minutes. It leaves the skin with a brightened tone & provides extra hydration. Then, I follow up with the rest of my routine (toner/essence>serum>cream>spot treatment). I'd personally prefer using as a sleeping mask than a wash-off mask pack as I think it's a little wasteful.

Sleeping mask is not really a necessity in a skincare routine, but it's nice to have for extra hydration, just not for everyday night routine (unless you live in a super dry climate or you have Sahara Desert's dry skin/damaged skin barrier). Also, you can actually get a thicker cream as your sleeping mask instead of the latter that'll cost so much more (although Cosrx's sleeping masks are considered affordable & at the normal creams' price range compared to other sleeping masks in the market).

I bought it when I was overly obsessed with skincare & love hoarding a lot of skincare products just because my favorite skincare Youtubers recommended them/have them. After a year, I'm trying to keep my skincare routine to its minimum steps. I'll only use it when I feel like my skin needs more pamper.

*UPDATE* I've not used this product as a sleeping mask for a long period of time & started to use back for 1-2 days. On the next day, I can always see that my skin's plumped up, flattened inflamed pimples & lightened pimple marks & brightened skin complexion. It still has the effect even after I washed off with morning cleanser & follow-up with my AM skincare routine.

4★: The brightening & plumpness result it provides on next day's skin;

1☆: The money is better to be spent on somewhere else - serums/actives.
