[FOOD HUNT] Nian Dai Kopidiam 年代茶室 Setapak 33

Recently there's a Facebook trend of Hong Kong style kopitiam (coffee shop in Hokkien language) in Kuala Lumpur.

I randomly stumbled upon this restaurant one day.
At first I thought it's like Kim Gary Restaurant that I've always love to go to,
turns out it's an old school kind of restaurant.

Restaurant's Theme & Decoration:
The decorations of the shop and their food brings back a lot of childhood memories.

The shelf of old-school convenience store & household stuff

The wall of memories

Playing cards, Doraemon Touch&Go card,
panda brand oil paint & etc.

The wall are filled with "tikam", paper barbie dolls & etc.

Counter section

Glass jar filled with childhood candies
at beverage making section

View from inside to the entrance

Old tv

The meehoon (vermicelli noodles) are quite thick

The Black Pearl 黑珍珠
Milo & teh tarik with coffee jelly

The coffee jelly looks like boba but its texture is like jelly,
it tastes like cincau (grass jelly), rather than coffee

They gave 5 jelly pearls

Roti bakar (toasted bread) with kaya & butter
傳統雪油咖椰燒麵包
RM3.50

📍Location:
Wisma Setapak 33
With the location nearby TAR college, it should be having more young customers.
But instead, there's more mid-age group people.
Most probably because of the food choices and decoration are more old-school

💵Price: $$/$$$$$
Average spending per person including drinks will be RM20~25

🍴Food: ★★★☆☆
The food is medium size with the average female appetite's portion
They have more food choices, compared to 阿木冰室 Ah Muk Cha Chaan Teng (located beside).
Their food variation are somehow similar, also HK style.

When we wanted to takeaway the "char siew" puff 招牌豬仔酥 but they don't have the stock anymore,
they went to the 阿木冰室 to get it for us 😂

*I've went to 阿木冰室 Ah Muk Cha Chaan Teng before,
I'll write about it soon & link it here once it's up

🎫Parking: $/$$$$$
The parking area in front of the restaurant is RM2 per hour.
Sometimes when it's peak hour, you can still opt for the parking in the basement with RM1 per 2 hours.
You can also avoid being soaking wet when it's pouring if you park at the basement because there's a lift way up to beside the restaurant (✋a very experience gurl right here)

Check out their official website for more details and photos of the restaurant here
and their menu here
